Leaque Playoff's - Game One vs. Listowel
The Larry Hudson Mitchell Midget Rep team travelled to Listowel on Monday evening where the undefeated Cyclones hosted the Meteors for a late 9:30 pm game. The Mitchell Reps have played the Cyclones four times previously, twice in tournaments and twice in league action. In tournament play they lost both times by a heart breaking single goal. The first league game was loss 3-0. We suffered another defeat in our next meeting, however kudos to the boys for not giving up at that game.

The Cyclones placed first in our league, tying Kincardine with the same record. The rivalry between Mitchell and Listowel is very healthy and was felt throughout the building. As the puck hit the ice, Listowel took control of the game early and were first on the score board at 11:21. The phantom calls started against Mitchell forcing them to play defensively for the remainder of the first playing a player short. Ryan Bell was solid between the pipes while facing a barrage of shots keeping the score at just 1-0  to end the first.

The second period found the visitors penalty box occupied most of the second with our host being unscathed with the disadvantage. With just seconds remaining in the second and finally being at full strength, the score board lit up once again when Raymond Horan set the puck too Caleb Twiddle who tied the game ending the second.

The third period started with both Mitchell and Listowel knowing the next goal was going to determine the winner and at 6:04 Listowel broke the tie 2-1. With the sense of defeat coursing throughout the veins of players, bench staff and spectators, Devin Fenwick decided to take matters into his own hands and with an unbelievable effort and less than a minute after the Cyclone's goal, send the puck past the host's goalie, tying the score at 2. Mitchell finally got a power play opportunity with 4 minutes remaining, but unfortunately were unable to capitalize on it. The third would finish tied and 10 minute sudden death OT would decide the outcome of this confrontation.

Starting the OT on the PK, it looked bleak to all present for Mitchell, the boys were battling hard and at 7:26 of OT, 6 ounces of black hardened vulcanized destruction was sent pass the Listowel's goalie by Declan Catalan with assists going to Logan Harmer and Horan, ending Listowel’s winning streak for the year…
Well done boys!!!
