Peewee Girls Win Silver over the weekend
The J.P. Uniac Insurance Peewee B Girls had a great weekend winning Silver at the 39th annual Walter Gretzky Tournament in Brantford.

On Friday the Meteors faced off against a team from Buffalo and showed how much heart a smaller town can have.
The girls exploded with 7 goals and the goaltending duo of Kora Smith and Ally Vogels combined for the shutout to open the tournament with a 7-0 win.  Brooklyn Boville led the scoring with a hat trick while Andrea Kelly and Ashley McLeod added 2 each.  Kelly and McLeod each added 2 assists while Haileigh Templeman, Brooklynn French, Jade Huygen and Tegan Mace all added singles.

In the second game the girls took on Owen Sound and didn't take their foot off the gas earning 6 goals from 5 different scorers.  McLeod(2), French, Kelly, Templeman and Mace all scored as Mitchell was a constant threat in the offensive zone.  Assists were spread out as well as everyone landed on the score sheet.  Alexis Gettler and Hayden Uniac  each had two followed by single assists by Templeman, Huygen, French, Mace, Boville, Rachel Haefling, Aubrey Vosper and Addy Wolfe.

On Saturday morning the girls battled hard against North Simcoe but this time could not buy a goal settling with a 0-0 tie.  Because of the large margin in goals for and against the girls got a bye to the final on Sunday.

The final ended up being an exciting game as the Meteors battled their hearts out against the Walkerton Capitals but came up just short as they fell 1-0 to take home Silver.

Vogels and Smith were stellar all weekend in net while the whole team worked hard defensively to help in only giving up 2 goals throughout the tournament.  Awesome job girls.

Congrats to all the girls and the coaching staff on a job well done.
