Peewee Girls clinch 1st place in their division
The J.P. Uniac Insurance Peewee B Girls clinched 1st place in the LLFHL west division over the weekend with a win over the Huron Heat and are feeling positive and ready to go for the first round of playoffs.

Allison Vogels and Kora Smith combined for the shutout with some excellent and timely saves against the Heat who came out strong, needing a win to keep their playoff hopes alive.  The defense of Addy Wolfe, Aubrey Vosper, Alexis Gettler and Hayden Uniac were strong in their own end also helping contribute to the shutout.  Brooklynn French opened the scoring midway through the first when she drove home a rebound off of a Haileigh Templeman shot with another assist going to Andrea Kelly.  The score remained the same until Wolfe sent Jade Huygen down the ice who fought off defenders and scored into the empty net with 15 seconds to go and give Mitchell the 2-0 win.
The other forwards, Tegan Mace, Rachel Haefling and Brooklyn Boville maybe didn't make the score sheet but all were very effective with their hard forchecking, pressing the opponents in their own end and helping back on defense.
Overall it was a great team effort leading into the playoffs.
