Peewee B girls take over division lead
After their first loss in Lower Lakes League play the J.P. Uniac Peewee B girls have not looked back and are unbeaten in their last 5 games to take over 1st place in their division.

On Nov 2 the Meteors travelled to London to take on the 1st place Devilettes and came out flying taking a 3-0 lead into the 3rd period with goals by Jade Huygen, Ashley McLeod and Brooklyn Boville and assists going to Aubrey Vosper and McLeod.  London fought back but were only able to get one back as Mitchell took the win.  The following night, London came to us ready to avenge the previous days loss.  Backed by solid goaltending from Ally Vogels the girls took a 1-0 lead into the 3rd on a goal by McLeod with an assist going to Huygen.  Sticking with the successful combination of sharing goaltending duties, Kora Smith took over and after London tied the game early in the 3rd, Smith made a number of spectacular saves on a hard pressing London team to keep Mitchell in it.  With just under 3 minutes left in the game Tegan Mace capped off a great game by burying a centering pass from Andrea Kelly to take the win.
On Friday night the Meteors travelled to St. Thomas and continued their determined play.  Tough defence from Addy Wolfe, Vosper, Hayden Uniac and Alexis Gettler shut down the Panthers offence and pushed the puck forward all game creating numerous scoring chances. Mitchell open the scoring on an end to end rush by Uniac who got the puck in front to Boville who jammed it in to open the scoring.  In the second with the power play the girls scored twice from the result of hard and determined forchecking.  Kelly pressed hard in the offensive zone, stealing the puck and putting it on net and Huygen made no mistake burying the rebound.  Next McLeod stole the puck in the opponent's end and after a few quick moves fired a screened shot past the St. Thomas goalie to take a 3-0 lead.  The Panthers fought back to get 2 but another goal by McLeod sealed it as Mitchell came home with the win.
On Saturday the Meteors faced Lucan who had beat us a week earlier and the girls came out ready to prove that they deserved better.  McLeod opened the scoring in the first with a nice backhand shot while Boville earned the assist.  On the power play Mace buried the rebound off of a Kelly shot to take a 2-0 lead.  Uniac and Huygen rounded out the scoring with assists going to Rachel Haefling and Kelly.  Lucan got one back late but not enough as Mitchell returned home with a 4-1 win.
Sunday the girls hosted West Oxford  and although they played very hard could not find the scoring touch in a game that ended in a 0-0 tie.  Forwards Haileigh Templeman, Brooklynn French worked hard backchecking and constantly helped the defence shut down the Inferno's offence.  Defence pairings of Uniac, Gettler, Vosper and Wolfe constantly broke up plays and moved the puck out of our end for the forwards.  Smith and Vogels again were both very solid when called upon to earn the shutout.
