Mitchell Legion PeeWee LL winning streak is 11 games strong!
The winning streak has continued in January for the Mitchell Legion PeeWee LL team.  First up for 2020 was the BCH ice dogs January 4th.   Griffin Bree lit up the score board first and would be Mitchell’s only goal until the third. BCH snuck two in giving them a 2-1 lead to start the third.  But that would be it for the Ice Dogs because Mitchell came to play in the third.  With his scoring debut of the season Brody Schoonderwoerd tied up the game and pulled the team ahead with another.  In the last 6 minutes of play Mitchell found the back of the net 4 more times with goals from D-men Matthew Menheere and Bradley Dearing, Bree added another and Zack Siemon-Hergott sealed the deal.

Assists came from Rogan Catalan for two, Siemon-Hergott had two, Tyler Scherbarth, Menheere, Schoonderwoerd and Jackson Kaufman all helping out with the 7 – 2 win over BCH.

Now for two road trips to Listowel.  First match up with Cyclones White on January 8.  First shift of the game Listowel scored but not to be left unanswered Schoonderwoerd snuck one in a minute later to tie it up.  With Catalan breaking the tie seconds later.  Keeping in the game Listowel would tie it up again but unassisted Brayden Glauser fired one in to end the first period in the lead 3-2.  Mitchell kept the lead the rest of the game with 2 goals scored by Siemon-Hergott, 2 goals by Bree, 2 goals by Scherbarth and another one for Catalan.  With puck control and lots of passing assists were earned by Scherbarth, Schoonderwoerd, Glauser, Bree, Dearing, Lincoln Lorentz, Kaufman and Siemon-Hergott.  The game would end 10-3 in Mitchell’s favour.

Now on a 10 game winning streak it was back to Listowel Jan 13th to match up with Cyclones Red.  After giving Listowel Red a 2-0 lead in the first it was time to shut them down.  Late in the 2nd Scherbarth from Glauser would put the first one in for Mitchell.  Starting the third on a power play it was time to turn on that Meteor heat.  Early in the third Callum Harris would tie it up on a sweet pass from Catalan.  Shot after shot was sent at the hot Listowel goalie until Dearing was able pull us ahead with a key shot from the point that found the back of the net.  The last half of the third was all about puck control, strong defense and speedy back-checking. Aedan McCann stood on his head making some amazing breakaway saves, no juicy rebounds from this tender tonight.  Listowel would score no more with Mitchell pulling off a 3-2 win, making it their 11th straight win.  Every single player is on the scoring side of the game sheets for 2020, this is what team-work looks like.  Keep this momentum going to the end of the playoffs boys!!
