PeeWee LL battled in the 64th Mitchell PeeWee Tournament
The Mitchell Legion Br. 128 PeeWee LL team fought hard but came up short in the Mitchell PeeWee tournament Nov 8-10.  We first took to the ice on Friday night in Mitchell against East Gwillimbury team.  They made it on the scoreboard first with Mitchell entering the 2nd down 1-0.  The second period went almost scoreless but with less than 3 minutes left Bradley Dearing let one fly from the point from Callum Harris & Brody Schoonderwoerd.  Going into the third tied-up 1-1, this was still anyone’s game. Mitchell would score first in the third to pull ahead on a nice tip in by Rogan Catalan from Griffin Bree & Lincoln Lorentz.

With energy running high it was only a few minutes later that East Gwillimbury would tie it up on a power play goal. The boys fought hard to defend their net but a tough penalty in the dying minutes of the game and a player injury took the wind out of their sails and East Gwillimbury would capitalize on this to end the game 4-2.

Next up was Lucan Irish Saturday morning in Monkton.  The boys were ready they knew this would not be an easy game. Lucan proved that right off the bat with the first period ending with the Meteors down 2-0.  Mitchell capitalized on a power play in the middle of the 2nd to put us on the scoreboard with Catalan’s sweet goal from Lorentz & Tyler Scherbarth. The score would remain 2-1 keeping the fans on the edge of their seat (and some out of their seats).  With less than 5 minutes left Mitchell SCORES to tie it up. Catalan found the back of the net again with help from Bree. With Mitchell running into some penalty trouble in the last minutes of play Lucan pulled ahead ending the game 3-2 in Lucan’s favour.

After two tough losses the boys were still ready to play Saturday night facing off against New Hamburg Huskies.  Schebarth opened up the scoring giving Mitchell a 1-0 lead after the first. In the second the wheels fell off for a bit well New Hamburg scored 3 goals and Mitchell was unable to find the net this period.  With Coach Pete back for the third period pep talk the boys woke back up. When out of nowhere Lorentz fires a shot from the corner past the Huskie goalie off the puck play of Schoonderwoerd and Zack Siemon-Hergott.  Not to be out done Bree set up Dearing for another monster shot from the point. The boys had tied it back up. No more goals would be scored and the boys ended their tournament with a 3-3 tie.

The Mitchell Legion Br. 128 PeeWee LL team played hard all week-end and proved they are not a team to be taken lightly.  Aedan McCann stood tall between the pipes the entire weekend with too many great saves to count.  The defensive wall of Dearing, Siemon-Hergott, Matthew Menheere, and “Hollywood” Ryan Glauser worked hard all weekend to protect the net and force the play out.  They were sure happy to have Jackson Kaufman back for the third game to add to the power wall. Scherbarth, Lorentz, Catalan, Harris, Bree and Schoonderwoerd kept the pressure on and the shots flying.  Great team effort this weekend, the boys played some tough teams and made them fight for the win. Proud of your efforts! Good luck at the Silverstick tournament this week-end in Parkhill. Go Meteors!
