PeeWee LL battles orange & black
PeeWee LL has battled the orange and black to start their season.  Oct 20th Mitchell hosted Kincardine 2 for their home opener.  Only 20 seconds in Kincardine scored and followed with another one 20 seconds later.  Goalie Aedan McCann stood on his head stopping shot after shot from the tough Kincardine 2 squad.  Going into the third things weren’t looking good, the Kinucks had a 4-0 lead.

It was time for “Coach Pete’s” 3rd period pep talk.  Not sure what was said in that dressing room but Mitchell came out on fire!  This game was far from over.  It took 3 minutes and then Zack Bilyea found the back of the Kincardine net and just to show them what it felt like, less than 40 seconds later he fired another one in.  Less than 10 seconds later Tyler Scherbarth snuck one in off a pass from Lincoln Lorentz.  The crowd went wild.  It was now a 4-3 game.  Strong defence, quick, back-checking forwards and McCann standing tall between the pipes they were able to shut Kincardine down in the third.  The boys feel a little short with a 4-3 loss but sure provided some excitement in the third.  Next time Kincardine 2… next time.

Oct 26 the boys were on the road to meet up with Kincardine 1 in Tiverton.  Once again Kincardine was on the scoreboard first.  But with less than 2 minutes left in the first Zack Bilyea with help from Bradley Dearing found the back of the Kinuck net.  In what is becoming a Bilyea trademark, less than 20 seconds later he put another one in.  The Meteors are now up 2-1 heading into the 2nd.  It was looking like a scoreless 2nd period but Kincardine snuck one in with 30 seconds left.  It was a tie game to start the third.  No time for a “Coach Pete” 3rd period pep talk will the boys still come out on fire?  Oh yes they will!  Meteors were ready to skate hard and finish this.  Matty Menheere sent a nice pass for Callum Harris to snipe in, the tie is broken.  And for insurance Griffin Bree would tap another one in from Rogan Catalan with less than 4 minutes left.  The boys tried hard to set up Bilyea for his hat trick as a parting gift, it didn’t quite happen but there is always tomorrow.  Big 4-2 win for the first one on the road.  Great start to the season boys.
