Peewee AE's New Year Winning Streak Snapped at Four
Coming off the regular season with two huge wins against the BCH Ice Dogs, the New Orleans Pizza Peewee AE’s learned they were to take on the Listowel Cyclones in their first round of OMHA playoffs.

The first game would be played in Mitchell’s barn starting January 12th.  Mitchell came out with full intensity in-front of a full-house of their biggest supporters, and were eager to set the tone of the series early.  Just two and half minutes into the game, Ryan Glauser would net the first goal of the game on a set-up from Ryan Klumper.   Ryan Hubbard would add a second with a little over three minutes left in the second period.  Clean passing by the hometeam would see Hubbard, with the help of Logan Verberne and Payton Wood on defense add the third, while Cohen Ahrens ripped the fourth in.   Great teamwork by everyone, would assist Keegan Meinen to earn a shut-out, and their first win of the series.

The Cyclones won the flip, and the next two games would be played up in Listowel the following weekend.

January 18th , saw the Peewee AE’s make the snowy drive up to the Steven Kerr Arena for game two. Midway into the first period, Wade Campbell would send the puck out to Ryan Klumper for the first goal of the game.  A second goal would be added by Klumper who ripped a shot in as the buzzer sounded, from Charlie Wolfe to leave the Cyclones trailing by two.  Listowel would find their first goal mere seconds into the second period, while teamwork between Klumper, Charlie Wolfe and Cohen Ahrens would see the Meteors two goals ahead, with ecstatic cheers coming from injured player Colby Ryan who despite the crummy weather, was supporting his teammates on the sidelines with a broken a leg from a game earlier in the season.  Linemates Verberne and Hubbard would again connect for a goal, as Verberne, Wolfe and Ahrens would all add additional points, before Listowel could score again, with just under three minutes to go.  Mitchell would take the second game in the best of five, with a healthy score of 7-2.

Game three had the Meteors once again making the trek back to Listowel the following day (19th), hoping to wrap up the series.  However, Listowel came out hungry and tied the game up with two minutes remaining, sending the third game into overtime.  Despite a good effort by the Meteors, a scrimmage in-front of the net, saw them fall 3-2, in a hard battled OT loss.

Game four returns to Mitchell on Tuesday, the 21st,as the Meteors look to wrap up the series for a chance to advance to round two in OMHA playoffs.
