Meinen Posts Shutout as Peewee Reps Capture 'B' Championship in Lucknow
In Lucknow on November 16th, goaltender Joel Meinen was sharp in backstopping the Hoegy's Farm Supply Meteor Peewee Reps to a 3-0 win over the Wingham Ironmen to capture the 'B' Championship in the annual Legion Peewee Rep Tournament.

Opening tournament play on Friday night, the Meteors faced the host Huron-Bruce team.  Despite dominating all game in overall puck possession in the offensive zone, the Meteors found themselves tied after regulation with the lone goal coming off the stick of Kellen Russwurm assisted by Nick Wagner and Charlie Geiger.  After five minutes of overtime did not produce a winner, the teams went to a three-round shootout ultimately won by Huron-Bruce for the 2-1 victory.  A milestone was achieved by the Meteors, playing their first penalty-free game of the year!
Saturday at noon the locals faced the South Huron Sabres, and Carter O'Brien struck first in the opening period unassisted.  South Huron would even things up in the middle frame, but Jack Van Loon would score the game winner with 6:40 remaining in the game, assisted by Hayden Nicholson.  The Meteors would then move on to face Wingham in the 'B' final at 4:00pm.
In a clean, fast-paced game with only two minor penalties called, both teams skated to a scoreless first period before Mitchell got on the board first early in the second on a goal by Wagner.  Jack Miller and Van Loon with his second of the day would add insurance goals in the final frame to secure the championship win.
