December 16 - Week in Review
The Thompsons Atom AE Meteors closed out a strong December with 4 wins and 2 ties
On Friday December 20, the Meteors faced off against the Minto Mad Dogs. Mitchell wasted no time getting down to business when Max Brodhagen(Assist) and Carter McAsh(Goal) teamed up just 40 seconds into the game. That would pretty much dictate the outcome of the game as the Meteors kept the pressure on to finish the game with an 8 - 0 win. Other goal scorers included Zoey Michel (2), Sean Gibbings, Reegan Vessie (2), Logan Montegomery and Ray Wolfe. Helpers came from Montgomery, Tyler Burtenshaw (2), Cole Templeman and Wolfe. Sebastian Voros picked up the shutout.
On Sunday December 22, the Meteors traveled to Port Elgin to face the Saugeen Shores Storm. With lots of opportunities on both ends of the ice the teams skated to a 0 - 0 tie after the first period. The pace would continue in the second with the Storm getting on the board first, but that lead would be short-lived when Zoey Michel knocked in a rebound and the second period would end in a 1 - 1 tie. With 6:40 remaining in the third Mitchell went up 2 - 1 after Carter McAsh took a nice lead pass from Ellie McArthur and beat the Storm goalie low corner. Unfortunately it didn't last as the Storm would tie it up a minute later and the game would end in a tie.
Two great games from the Meteors, our final league game will be played against BCH on Jan. 2 at 7:30pm in Clinton, good luck team!
