November 11 - Week in Review!
The Thompsons' Mitchell Atom AE Meteors played back to back games on Thursday and Friday this week.

For the Thursday night tilt, the Meteors' would travel to Clinton to play the BCH Ice Dogs. The first period ended in a 0 - 0 tie with both teams playing hard and each having scoring chances only to be turned away by strong goal tending, including Mitchell's own Sebastian Voros. Mitchell would finally light up the score board mid way through the second when Caleb Pennings picked up a rebound from a Ray Wolfe wrist shot and buried it past the goalie. Less than 2 minutes later BCH would tie the game, setting the stage for an exciting third period. The third period looked much like the first period with fast paced back and forth action. In the dying seconds it looked like we were going to go home with another tie, when Tyler Burtenshaw would hold the zone and skate it in a few strides before taking a hard low shot, beating the BCH goalie with the game winner and only 11 seconds to spare! Great finish Meteors way to keep the pressure on late in the game! During the press conference Burtenshaw commented that he would be setting up a chiropractic appointment following the post game pile up!

On Friday night the Thompons Atom AE Meteor's were distracted, reeling from the recent news of their favourite HNIC broadcaster getting canned...but alas the game must go on! Mitchell would face a strong Listowel Cyclones team out to avenge a loss from the last meeting. The Cyclones came out with a chip, netting two goals in the first period that would carry all the way to the third. In the second period Meteors' goalie Bryson Eickmeyer did all he could to keep the game close making several impressive saves. In the third, Ray Wolfe would cut the lead in half on an unassisted wrist shot at the 7:22 mark. With about 2mins to play Mitchell would pull their goalie for the extra attacker. With several close opportunities Mitchell just couldn't get the bounce they needed and the game would end in a 2 - 1 loss. A great effort by all Meteors!

Good luck next weekend in our Silver Stick Tournament!
