Atom AE's wrap up preseason games
Submitted By Cain Templeman on Sunday, October 6, 2019
The Mitchell Atom AE team sponsored by Thompsons wrapped up a 3 game exhibition schedule with 2 ties and a loss.

October 3rd in St Clements, Ellie MacArthur scored an unassisted goal for the teams first goal of the young season at the 7 minute mark of the second period.  This cut the host teams lead to 3-1 after falling behind earlier in the game.  6 minutes later Ray Wolfe got Mitchell within 1 scoring with MacArthur and Max Brodhagen earning assists.  In a back and forth third period, Logan Montgomery would tie the game with a goal assisted by linemates Caleb Pennings and Carter McAsh.  Twin Centres would answer back under a minute later to regain the lead, however Pennings would bang in the game tying goal late in the third to preserve the tie.  Reegan Vessie would gain the lone assist on the tying goal as the game closed in a 4-4 tie.

The following night in Clinton, the Meteors would battle hard in 1-1 tie versus BCH.  After a scoreless first period, Ray Wolfe would open the scoring with Cole Templeman getting the assist.  BCH would tie the game early in the third to complete the scoring as both defenses would shine in a second tie game final.  Mitchell's defence of Reegan Vessie, Ben Hubbard, Lucas Bree, Lucas DeJong and Sean Gibbings was strong keeping BCH forwards in check all game.

Sunday night at home, the locals played hard but couldn't answer to Twin Centres offence in a 6-2 loss.  Zoey Michel and Carter McAsh scored for the Meteors while Gibbings, Montgomery, Wolfe and Templeman all added single assists.

The team resumes play this week as they take on Howick to begin regular season action.
