Atom Reps Notch Up 2 Shutout Wins on the Weekend
The Walkom's Valu-Mart Atom Rep Meteors came away Friday night with a 8-0 win over the North Middlesex Junior Stars in an exhibition match. Goal scorers were Landon Van Bakel (4), Nate Uniac (2), Austin Judge, and Ben Kelly. Assists came from Kelly, Owen Jarmuth, Isaak Smith, and Carson Brown. Carter Miller was tested but stood tall in net earning the shutout.
On Saturday afternoon, the Meteors carried their momentum from the night before, hosting the Hanover Falcons. With 13 seconds left in the first period, Carson Brown scored top shelf, unassisted. Mitchell continued pressing in the second period, peppering the Falcons goalie with several shots. Mitchell's next goal would come at the 3:17 mark with Blake Otten going end-to-end (assists Austin Judge & Hudson Porter). 2 minutes later, the Hanover defence would cough up the puck and Landon Van Bakel went in unchallenged making the score 3-0. In the 3rd, Van Bakel scored 2 more (assists Judge & Faust). Once again, Carter Miller came away with the shutout with the Walkom's Valu-Mart Atom Rep Meteors winning 5-0. This was one of the best games the Atom Reps have played thus far with great skating, crisp passing, stellar defence and a strong back-check. Keep up the good work boys!
The Walkom's Valu-Mart Atom Rep Meteors will be participating this coming weekend (Nov. 8-10) in the Bill Batten Memorial Tournament in Exeter.
