Return to League play
Submitted By Chris Vogels on Friday, December 07, 2018
The Larry Hudson Chevrolet Buick GMC boys travelled up to Mildmay on a Decemberish Bruce County wintery day in Bruce County to face the South Bruce Blades.

Appearing to be a bit snowblinded from the drive up, the first couple periods found the boys having a tough time controlling the puck as it seemed to be a bouncy game at both teams.  Kari made great saves but a couple South Bruce bounces found the back of our net and by the end of the second period the Meteors would find themselves down by a couple.
This doesn't typically bother our boys and Mitchell would come out of the break with some words of wisdom form Wise and a bit more energy.  The third period started off with better flow.  Early in the period Rauser and Ryan worked the puck around the net and set up Vogels who was parked outside the blue ice for a one-timer goal to get the game back within reach.   Then came a powerplay mid-way through the frame.  However, a bit of confusion in the South Bruce end would result in a short-handed breakaway and Blade goal - putting Mitchell down again by two.  Never give up though. Only a few minutes later, McCorkindale and McLean would again control the play and this time Harmer sniped one past to get the game within one with plenty of time left to go.  While Mitchell did have some quality chances through the rest of the game, it would seem as though they had come against a solid netminder tonight and as time ran down, our net was empty for the extra attacker and South Bruce would find a way to get one more against us and send Mitchell home with a 4-2 loss.
