Weekend in Paris
The Mitchell Larry Hudson Chevrolet Buick GMC Midgets reached the final of the Paris tournament this past weekend, falling 4-2 to Frontenac in the championship game.

Tight defense was the order of the day as Mitchell allowed just four goals in four games before the final, as netminders Kari Dingman and James Vink were up to the task but aided by solid play in front of them.

Ryan Harmer scored two goals 27-seconds apart in the first period which was the margin of victory in a 3-1 win over Dorchester. Callup Evan Morrison also scored.

Later, goals 79-seconds apart in the first period from Declan Catalan and Logan Harmer was enough for a 2-1 win over Stirling. Dingman’s shutout bid was ruined with 69-seconds left.

Jarett Vogels scored the game winner with two-and-a-half minutes left in a 2-1 win over Ilderton. Catalan also scored.

In the semi-final against league opponent Saugeen Shores, Ryan Harmer’s goal in the “sixth” overtime – a 2-on-2 session – was the winner in a 2-1 victory. Cal McCorkindale also scored, setting the stage for the final just two hours later.

Raymond Horan and Jacob Rauser scored in the defeat with Frontenac scoring two second period goals which proved to be the difference in the outcome.
