Season Recap So Far
The Scotia Bank Bantam C girls continue to roll thru their opening segment of their season with a couple more wins and two losses.

On October 26th the team traveled to Woodstock to take on the Wildcats and we started off a bit slow and sluggish.  After the first period of play are girls were down 2-0 but we started to see a peep in their stride as the second period continued and with just 25 seconds left on the clock, Alexa Hahn drove the puck to the front of the Wildcats goal and scored, cutting their lead to just 1 goal.  The third was played much the same as the previous period and with minutes just dropping off the clock; Nicole Hahn would net our tying goal with the help from line mates Maia Stephan and Charlee Feltz.  With the score square at 2-2, Nicole Hahn would rush up the ice to take score unassisted to put the good girls on top 3-2 and just like that we came back to win the game.

Our next game was at home on Oct 28th against a tough South Huron team.  It was a battle back and forth as each team would score a goal in the opening period.  Charlee Feltz would start us off with Jaelyn Meinen and Nicole Hahn earning the assists.  During the second period, Nicole Hahn would increase our lead to 2 from the quick puck movement of Alexa Hahn and Maia Stephan but we just couldn’t seem to hold off those Sabres in the third period and they got the better of us and would get 2 past our goaltender to take the game 3-2, tough one girls – you will get them next time!

Last Friday night we took on the Huron Heat in their barn (Seaforth), this game started off in the Heat’s favor as they would be up after the first period 2-0 but our feisty group of gals battled hard for the whole game despite all the penalties called our way.  The second period was our strongest as we would net 3 goals to keep the game in check – goals scored by Maia Stephan, Nicole Hahn and Alexa Hahn.  The Heat would score a few more goals to end the game 6-3.

A few nights later the girls played an exhibition game against the Sarnia Sting in Monkton and we started this game off right with puck and position domination for the whole game.  We just didn’t give Sarnia any chances and proved that we might be a small team with 10 skaters and a goalie but we are MIGHTY! Alexa Hahn would open the scoring from a pass off the stick of Nicole Hahn and just minutes later, Charlee Feltz would net our second of the game with the help of Jaelyn Meinen and Dayna Vosper and then Alexa Hahn would get her second of the game with the assist going to Nicole Haefling.  Great work girls – let’s keep this going.  The second period was much like the first as we continued to control the play with Nicole Hahn adding to our score from the hard working plays of Alexa Hahn and Nicole Haefling.  Shortly after the faceoff at centre, Maia Stephan would set herself up around the net to get the rebound shot from the stick of Jaelyn Meinen to have the scoreboard show 5-0 in our favor.  As the time winded down during the third period, the Sting took full advantage of a clearing attempt from us to tap one in past our goalie Makayla Beuerman. The buzzer would sound with us winning 5-1.

With our opening segment of the regular season complete, we now know the teams we will be facing for the remainder of the season – we have some tough teams ahead of us but I think this group of gals are up to any challenge and will play the best hockey they can and give all of us parents something to cheer for.
