Good Start to the Season
The Scotia bank Bantam Girls have had a good start to our season with 2 wins, 1 loss and a tie so far.

Our first game of the season was an away game vs the Lucan Irish on October 2nd.  The girls played a strong game with numerous chances but the Lucan goalie was up to the challenge and continued to shut us done.  The score would remain the same right from start to finish at a 0-0 deadlock.
Our season home opener was October 10th in Mitchell with us hosting the Lambeth Lancers.  This was a back and forth game for both teams during all three periods of play.  Shot after shot was taken on both netminders but they were both solid as rocks and the score was square at 0-0 for the first two periods.  Just a couple of minutes into the final period , Lambeth managed to get that little black disk behind our goalie Makayla Beuerman to take the lead and would continue to hold the narrow lead till the end of the game.  The last minute of the game was the most interesting  to watch as we pulled our goalie for the extra attacker to tie the game but it nipped us in the butt and Lambeth scored to take the lead now 2-0 with 55 seconds left on the clock but just 15 seconds later, Emily Dearing took a beauty shot from the point and netted the puck, way to go! With less than 40 seconds left in the game, our group of gals pressed hard but just fell short ending the game 2-1.
Just a few days later, October  14th we would have another home game this time facing off against the Lambton Attack.  This was another strong game for our girls as everyone played hard to come out victorious. It didn't take long for us to get on the scoreboard, Nicole Hahn would open the scoring from the help of her line mate Alexa Hahn and just a few minutes later the dual of Maia Stephan and Charlee Feltz would net our second of the opening period, Lambton answered back with a goal to cut into our lead 2-1.  The second period solved nothing and the score was still in our favour 2-1.  The third period was dominated by our feisty Mitchell Meteors as we would pull ahead on the scoreboard.  Maia Stephan would score her second of the game from the play making of Jaelyn Meinen and Charlee Feltz and then Alexa Hahn would net one from the quick puck movements of Nicole Hahn.  With just a minute left in the game wingers Maia Stephan and Charlee Feltz moved the puck to stick of Jaelyn Meinen to net the goal.  The clock counted down and the game was over with us winning 5-1.  Great game girls!
The girls seem to be on a roll so we continued our home winning streak last night -October 17th vs the Ilderton Jets.  This was another good game to watch as the girls skated hard as the Jets were a quick team.  Nicole Haefling had a great night last night as she was a part of each goal scored.  Nicole Haefling  got the girls started by being right in front of the net to get the roundbound shot off the stick of Nicole Hahn and tuck it in behind their goalie -nice tap in!  Near the end of the opening period Ilderton would net one by our net minder to tie the game.  Less than a minute into the second period our "triple H" line would score again giving us the lead, Nicole Hahn would be rewarded with the goal with the assists going to Alexa Hahn and Nicole Haefling.  The battles continued for the remainder of this period but our defensive group of Emily Dearing, Dayna Vosper, Olivia Bilotta and Meryl Tourigny would cause havoc for those Jets.  With two members of our "triple H" line scoring so far during the game, Nicole Haefling would get the puck to the stick of Alexa Hahn to increase our lead to 3-1.  As the clock continued to count down, the Jets decided to pull their goalie for the extra attacker and it worked as they made it 3-2 but our girls settled in and moved the puck out of zone and waited for the buzzer to sound and the scoreboard showing another win 3-2.
Great effort so far and we look forward to watching many more games this season. GO Bantam Girls GO!
