Maroon Division Champions
For the first time in in history the Mitchell Scotia Bank Bantam LL's have won the Maroon Division championship.

After winning the first time a bantam division in Goderich Young Canada Week the boys started the finals off against Saugeen Shores Storm 1 team last Saturday in Southampton. The home team jumped out to early lead in the first and extended the lead mid way in the second before Xavier Lorentz scored for the visitors. In tight physical game both teams battled hard. The home team scored late in the third to restore their 2 goal lead and added an empty netter to complete the 4-1 victory for the home team. The next night back in Mitchell in a do or die game, the tight physical game was repeated but with some great saves by Kody Eisler and late goal by Andrew Van Bakel from Joey Adam with 5:45 left in the 3rd the home team came away with 1-0 victory. On Friday night back in Port Elgin it for all the marbles with the home team so far being the victors but the visitors wanted nothing to do with that trend. Van Bakel opened the scoring late in the first with a passing play from Adams and Jack Steinbach. The home team answered back early in the second but Mitchell restored the lead again on a breakaway from Van Bakel. The visitors increased the lead to 2 goals late the second from Adams with Van Bakel chipping in the assist. The third was left up to some great saves at both ends of the ice and midway through the third Saugeen Shores beat Eisler to get within one goal. But team defense and goal tending shut the door for the victory. The boys finished a great season with a 39-11-2 record. Congrats to the boys and the coaches for a great season.
