Young Canada Week Champions
In the first time in 70 years Goderich Young Canada Week added a Bantam division and the Scotia Bank Mitchell Bantam LL team is the champions.

In the first game the boys played the home town Goderich Saliors and established and early lead to finish with a 7-0 with Kody Eisler with the shutout and Andrew Van Bakel leading the way with a hat trick and Joey Adam with 2 goals. Up next was Kincardine. After a scoreless first with Mitchell controlling the play finally Xavier Lorentz opened the scoring in the second with 3 minutes left. This opened the flood gates for both teams as it was back in forth a little while but Mitchell prevailed with a 5-3 win with Basil Voros chipping in 2 goals. In the final round robin game against TCDMHA the boys scored early to get to a 4-0 lead and finish up with a 5-1 victory. With 5 different scorers the boys were lead by Caleb Kay with a goal and assist with Damen Robroeck had 2 assists. In the finals the boys were flying but a very familiar face was in net against them. Austin Weir now playing for Shallow Lake stood on his head in a tight battle. Shallow lake scored in the second for a 1-0 lead. Mitchell controlled the play but could not get one past Austin until the middle of the 3rd when Logan Nugent scored to tie it up. The play stayed the same and it took until the second overtime in 3-3 play for Joey Adam to score the winner and the tournament win.
The boys are now off to play Saugeen Shores in the Maroon Division WOAA finals starting Saturday March 23 in Southampton and back home Sunday March 24 at 8pm for game 2. Good luck boys and finish off the year strong.
