Regional Silver Stick Champs
The Your Neighbourhood Credit Union Bantam returned home form the Regional Silver Stick in Collingwood as champions. Going undefeated all weekend that keeps the team winning streak going in the regular season up to 10 games. With very tight team defence and solid goaltending from Kody Eisler and Brennen Vanderkyleen that gave only 3 goals all weekend in 5 games.

The boys started off Saturday morning with a 5-1 victory over Elmvale. The boys jumped out to a quick 2-0 lead before Elmvale got one back before the end of the first. With a very quite second the boys hammered in 3 more in the third to complete the victory. Scoring was led by Joey Adams and Andrew Van Bakel with goal and assist each. Logan Nugent chipped in with a pair of assists. Game 2 Saturday was against Kincardine. The boys were a little sluggish in the start of the game with late goal in the first and another in the middle of the second from Van Bakel. Then Cole Hannon decided enough was enough and erupted for 4 goals in the third to secure the win. Xavier Lorentz added 2 helpers in the victory. The boys had an early start Sunday morning in a battle of undefeated team’s vs the home town Collingwood 1 team. Coulter Rolph opened the scoring half way through the first. The home town team got one back in the second before Xavier took a page out of Cole’s note book and scored 2 goals in the third to secure the win and first place overall. The feeling was we would see this team again in the finals if we made it.   Off to the semi-finals where Kincardine was waiting for some revenge from Saturday. In tight game and some tiredness showing the boys used all the support from the Mitchell Atoms who were waiting to play in their final to get the job done. It was not until the middle of the second when Coulter went for a little skate to open the scoring. Not until the late in the third when Basil Voros scored his normal by net slammer goal and Xavier finished it off late to complete the victory and send us to the finals against the home town team. Brennen played spectacular in the semi final game to get the shutout.  In the finals it was showing for both teams a long weekend of hockey. Adams opened the scoring early in the first from great feed from Caleb Kay. Joey was not done as he added another with assist from Voros and Van Bakel. Kody made a highlight real behind the back save to keep the 2 goal lead. Voros finished off the scoring in the middle of the third to help the parents and coaches breathe again with the help from Kay and Lorentz. On the final buzzer the weekend was complete. Team defence was key to the weekend with Logan Ruby, Jack Steinbach and Andres Harmer logging lots of ice time all weekend in defensive rolls and extra in the final as a couple injuries and penalties left for a short bench.
