Peewee C girls in the finals
The Lockhart Peewee C girls pulled out a thrilling shootout victory over West Oxford  to make it to the finals of the Mitchell Girls Tournament.

On Sunday morning the girls played the West Oxford Inferno for the third time in a week.  This time a berth in the finals of the Mitchell Girls Tournament was at stake.  We all knew this would be a close, exciting game and indeed it was.  Mitchell came out flying scoring 8 seconds into the game.  Immediately off of the opening faceoff, Ashley McLeod carried the puck into the offensive zone and took a hard shot that the Oxford goalie couldn't handle resulting in a rebound coming out to Kara Rolph who made no mistake placing it top shelf.  The girls then went up 2-0 at 6:52 of the second period.  After a fierce battle in front of the net, the puck came loose to Rachel Haefling who buried it giving the girls a huge boost of energy as the Inferno kept pressing. Assists went to McLeod and Rolph.  West Oxford would not go away scoring with 4:35 left in the 2nd to get to within one heading into the 3rd.  Shawni DeJong held down the fort while the Inferno pressed until 4:10 left when a blistering shot tied up the game.  Overtime had chances both ways but both goalies seemed determined to bring home the win for their team and could not be beat leading to a shootout.  Rolph and McLeod both scored as the first 2 shooters for Mitchell while DeJong stopped all shooters to sent Mitchell to the finals.  Mitchell will now meet North Middlesex in the finals at 4:30.
