Peewee C girls attack the Attack
The Lockhart Funeral Home Peewee C girls headed to Watford on Saturday for their first away league game of the season.

The Lambton Attack girls came out strong in the first period capitalizing on two early power plays to end the period with a two goal lead. After a bit of a pep talk and a super loud cheer, the girls were ready to fight back. And fight back they did. Only 1:55 into the period Jade Huygen popped her first of two goals for the night with the assist going to Ashley McLeod. Jade’s next goal, almost a mirror image of the first with all the hard work and aggressiveness around the net, tied the game at two with 3:58 left on the clock – assist to McLeod. Now with the momentum on their side and Allyson Vogels making some great saves to keep the team in the game, Kara Rolph pushes one in at the 3:02 mark to take the lead; huge kudos to Rachel Haefling for being aggressive in the corners and setting up Rolph for the goal and to Huygen for getting the puck deep. With the second period over and now up by one, the girls although very tired, knew that they dominated that period and were ready for another. Again, with a defining cheer, we were ready to battle. The third period was back and forth with both teams getting their chances. With the combination of Vogels being stellar between the pipes; Shawni DeJong, showing her skills as an out player; the Luckhart’s Funeral Home defense girls stopping the opponents dead in their tracks and Kaylee Seip banging home her first of the season to give the girls some insurance - assists going to McLeod and Huygen, we thought we had the game in the bag. But, the Lambeth Attack did just that, attack, and with some lucky home ice bounces, they manage to tie the game with goals at the 4 and 1:43 minute marks to give the girls their first tie of the season.
