Winter Chill Day Two

A fun day filled with hockey.
Mitchell played Flamborough this morning. The first period saw Mitchell kill a penalty. No one got on the scoreboard. The second period was the same. Scoreless. Late in the third Flamborough got another man advantage but Mitchell wasn't letting them score. A scoreless third period buzzer went and the game ended in a 0-0 tie.
Mitchell then went to the semi finals Saturday evening playing against Ayr. The team they had tied the previous day. The first period saw Brooklyn Boville score on a power play with a scramble in front of the net assisted by Claire McCorkindale. Then the power play went to them but Mitchell killed it. With just over a minute left in the first they tied it up. T
hen period two saw Ary get a one goal lead on a power play.
Half way through the third Danielle Harmer scored to tie it up and send it to overtime with an assist from Josephine Jarmuth and Margaret McCarthy.
Overtime 4 on 4 but not for long Mitchell drew a penalty and the five minutes of hockey became 2 mins of 3 on 4. But Mitchell was not letting them score.
Shoot out
First up was Harmer, she did her best to deek the goalie but missed. Next up Ayr...they got it in.
Second shooter Jarmuth who couldn't get it past the goalie either. Next up Ayr...Kora Smith made a big save.
One more shooter McCarthy she was skating hard took a shot and went down, unfortunately it didn't make it in.
Ayr wins but not for a lack of effort by the Mitchell girls. Tough loss.
