In a tightly checked affair on devil’s night in Monkton,
the Mitchell Legion Br. 182 Peewee LL battled hard and came away with a 3-2 victory
for the Central Perth Predators.
In the first period, Nolan Vessie opened the scoring by banging in a rebound from a Bradley Dearing shot and assisted by Payton Wood. The first period was fast paced with very few whistles. The spectators in the crowd never even had a chance to get cold with all the action on the ice. At the end of the first, Mitchell was up 1-0.
The second period opened by Central Perth scoring on a wrap around attempt that snuck past goalie Ethan Dearing. Central Perth got a boost from the goal as most of the first half of the period was played in the Mitchell zone. Ryan Hubbard broke the pressure with a one-timer from the slot from passes from Wood and Calum Harris to put the locals up 2-1. Dearing would put the Mitchell squad up 3-1 with a nice set up from Harris with just 2 seconds left in the period.
The third was a close battle with Central Perth opening the scoring off a turnover in front of the net to make it 3-2. The local squad held the fort to preserve the victory. Coach Brooks has all the lines clicking as the team is 4-1 in league play.
