Peewee Reps Finish Off Season By Capturing Cross Border Clash Title
The Hoegy's Farm Supply Meteor Peewee Reps finished off their season in style, winning the Cross Border Clash Tournament in Baltimore, ON on March 24th with a 6-0 shutout victory over Petawawa.
Goaltender Hayden Beuermann posted his third shutout of the weekend in the final game, and Brayden Glauser paced the attack with four goals and one assist. Also scoring for the Meteors were Caleb Templeman and Vincent Voros. James McCarthy and Josh French each recorded two assists, and single helpers were awarded to Daniel Ogilvie, Jarrett Van Bakel, Rhett Terpstra, Kellen Russwurm, and Templeman.
The locals opened tournament play on Friday evening against the Highland Storm, playing a very solid two-way game ending in a 4-0 victory. Voros (2G 2A) had a four point effort for the Meteors, with Glauser and Van Bakel also finding the back of the net. Terpstra chipped in with a pair of assists, and Jared Vosper, Brandon Dietrich, Van Bakel and Templeman all had one assist each.
Saturday morning's opponent was Deep River, with the Meteors coming out on top by a score of 5-2. Lucas Roobroeck and Voros each had a goal and an assist, and also scoring were French, Ogilvie, and Vosper. Glauser would record the additional assist.
The final round robin game of the tournament would be a matchup against Wasaga Beach, and the Meteors continued firing on all cylinders with a lopsided 7-0 win. Glauser and McCarthy would lead on the score sheet with two goals each, with Glauser also adding an assist. Additional goals were scored by Roobroeck, Voros, and Van Bakel. Vosper, French, Russwurm, and Terpstra rounded out the assists category, leading to the A final on Sunday afternoon.
