Atom Girls Finish Off WOGHL Playoffs With Win
The Van Gerwen Sun Life Meteor Atom Girls played their final WOGHL playoff game on March 17th, failing to advance to the next round despite a 3-1 victory over the visiting Waterloo Ravens.
After a scoreless first period, Ava Harmer opened the scoring midway through the second with an unassisted breakaway shot into the top corner. In the dying seconds, Abigayle Van Bakel converted a 2-on-1 pass from Leah Kelly, set up by Addy Wolfe's long stretch pass. Camryn Medhurst would score early in the third from Van Bakel to take a 3-0 lead. With their goalie pulled for the extra attacker in the final minutes, Waterloo would score once to break goaltender Alissa Insley's shutout effort.
