Atom Girls Record Pair of Wins on Weekend
Submitted By Trevor Russwurm on Sunday, November 04, 2018
The Paul Van Gerwen Sun Life Meteor Atom Girls recorded two wins on the weekend, blanking the North Middlesex Stars 8-0 at home on Nov 3rd and stealing a 4-2 road win at the Ilderton Jets on Nov 4th.

At home on Friday night, Ava Harmer opened the scoring early in the first assisted by Camryn Medhurst.  Harmer would add two more goals in the second for the hat trick.  Zoey Michel (2G 1A) had three points, and Alayna McKay and Medhurst each had a goal and an assist.  Rylee Kipfer added a single marker on a shot from the point assisted by Emma Groenestege.  Additional single helpers were awarded to Leah Kelly and Grace Bach, and Macie Russwurm had the shutout between the pipes.
In Ilderton on Sunday afternoon to face the Jets, Harmer once again opened the scoring 40 seconds into the game on a breakaway, lifting a shot into the top corner assisted by Abigayle Van Bakel and Bach.  Ilderton would tie it up midway through the first, but the locals would regain the lead moments later on a goal by Medhurst assisted by Van Bakel and McKay.  Hanging onto a slim 2-1 lead midway through the final period, Van Bakel gave the Meteors some breathing room with two goals on the same shift.  Picking up assists on the pair were Kipfer, Harmer, McKay, and Addy Wolfe.  The Jets would add another goal in the final minutes but the Meteors would hang on for the win.
