The Dodge Caravan Kids Novice C Girls played well against The Ilderton Jets Thursday night.
The lone goal of the first period for either team came from Mitchell Meteor Ellie MacArthur assisted by Kayla Visneskie.
Two Meteor goals were scored in the second period. The first came from MacArthur with excellent passes from Phoebe Wood and Kinslee Horan. Ilderton responded with a goal of their own to shorten the Meteors lead. The second meteor goal of the period was a buzzer beater by Visneskie with only 0.4 seconds on the clock. The period ended with Mitchell ahead of Ilderton 3-1.
In the third, MacArthur recorded her hat trick as well as adding another, with assists going to Horan and Selina Gethke. Ilderton would not give up and added a couple quick goals. In one last attempt to try for a win, the Jets pulled their goalie. The Meteors applied pressure and worked their way into the Ilderton zone. Alise Crawford was in great position to receive a pass from Selina Gethke. Crawford made no mistake burying the puck in the empty net.
Meteor goaltender Ally VanBakel made some key saves to keep the lead in the Meteors favour throughout the game. The 6-3 victory marks the fourth win in a row for regular season league play.
