Tournament Starts With A Win For Novice Girls
A 13-0 win for the Novice girls over the Stratford Aces sets morale high for the remainder of the tournament.

Selina Gethke opened the scoring just under a minute into the first period with a shot from the slot assisted by Amelia Wolfkamp.  Phoebe Wood found Danica Voros in perfect position out front for the Meteors second goal. Kayla Visneskie finished off the period with a goal assisted by Voros.

Four goals were recorded in the second including a nice shot from the slot by Visneskie. Gethke would grab a rebound goal from Woods shot on net. Avery Smith sent a nice pass to Gethke that sealed her first hattrick of the game.  With seconds remaining in the period, Smith was in perfect position out front to get the seventh goal.

Even more scoring took place in the third period with scorekeepers recording six more goals in the final frame. Visneskie marked her hattrick in the third period with the assist going to Ellie MacArthur.  Gethke recorded her second hattrick of the game with helpers from Wolfkamp, Smith, goaltender Ally VanBakel, Charlee Weesjes, and MacArthur. Voros broke free from the Aces defence to score with passes coming from Kinslee Horan and Wolfkamp. With twenty seconds on the clock Martyna Hartwig closed the game with the final goal on a pass from Elyn Hannon.

Strong backchecking by the meteors defensive squad of Horan, MacArthur, Hannon and Smith supported VanBakels efforts to keep the pucks out of the Meteors net and record a shutout.
