Battle of Mitchell vs. Mitchell
The Mitchell Dodge Caravan Kids Novice LL1 team played another good match-up against the Mitchell LL2 team. Both teams are always at the top of their game playing each other, and tonight's game was no exception.
The Mitchell LL2 team scored first to take an early lead, but 35 seconds later, the Dodge Caravan Kids Mitchell LL1 team netted 1 when Greg McKay, assisted by Deni Beaudin and Michael Coyne, retaliated to tie the game at 1-1. Tyler Verberne, unassisted, snuck 1 past the opposing goalie, taking the lead. In the second period, Tyler Burtenshaw passed to McKay, who back-handed it into the net, increasing the lead to 3-1. Mitchell LL2 closed the gap with less than 1 minute remaining in the second ending the period at 3-2. Early in the third, Mitchell LL2 tied it up and then, with 1 more goal, took the lead. Burtenshaw went in alone and tied it up for the Dodge Caravan Kids Mitchell LL1 team. Carter Harris made a few big saves in the last minute of play to keep the game tied at 4-4. A great way to end the last regular season game between these 2 rival teams!
