Novice Reps advance to Championship Final
On Saturday afternoon the Mitchell Novice Reps traveled to Port Elgin to play the tie breaker against Saugeen Shores.
The local boys came out strong knowing this was the deciding game whether or not they move on to the championship final. The first period started with much of the same end to end action as seen in round robin play.
Within the first period the boys battled hard with strong defense not letting the puck see much of the net. With the battle continuing all throughout the first period you could tell the boys we're determined to take home a win. Unfortunately it was a scoreless first and second period leaving the fans on the edge of their seats.
Into the third period these boys gave it their all. Finally, 5 minutes into it Mitchell would light up the scoreboard. Carson Lubbers opend it up for Mitchell with a top shelf goal assisted by Cam Dietz. Now if this doesnt get Mitchell pumped up, lets add another one to the scoreboard about two minutes later! Tyler Burtenshaw with a sweet pass from behind the net to Ray Wolfe who was stationed perfectly infront of the net would put it away making it 2-0 Mitchell.
Saugeen was on the attack, but Mitchell contained them with solid all around defense. Two minutes left in the third Lubbers, unassisted fires the puck past the Saugeen goalie to seal the 3-0 victory!
Mitchell now moves on to battle Kincardine once again for the championship.
First game is Wednesday in Kincardine at 7pm
Second game Saturday at 3pm in Mitchell
Third game Sunday at 5:45 in Mitchell
