Keeping the "w"
The Mitchell Midget Local League continues to go undefeated with another win the books following Tuesday's game against Goderich at the Mitchell barn.

The fans arrived early setting the atmosphere for the two teams who had just played against each other a few days prior at the Goderich arena. The ice was cleared and the first puck dropped.

Period one began with quick trips ups and down the ice accompanied by great teamwork by both teams. Mitchell scores two in the first period which builds their confidence and game demeanour. Goals were scored by Eric Dearing as assisted by Cole Wilton and Des Finlayson, and Connor Weir, unassisted. Penalties were also plentiful with four trips to the bin by the mitchell boys with one only one penalty issued to Goderich.

The second period began slightly less aggressively than the first with Goderich coming in to score at 10:38 on a power play and 7:31 to tie the game. Mitchell proceeded to play and pass the puck when able. The sound of the skates against the ice as the players strive to get that buck in the basket is a familiar sound. The Mitchell midgets score at 6:50 to take the lead. Honours go to Brenden Boville for the goal, assisted by Nate Baker and Eric Dearing.

Finally, the third period brings the last chances to pull ahead for the win by each team. Goderich enters the third with a desire to win and they increase speed and we find much action at our end of the rink. Goderich scores to again tie the game. Mitchell persists and plays the game as they have been thought only to have Tristan Beehler scores at 11:20 with the assistance of Jackson McAthur and Connor Louwagie. The last few minutes of the game were intense with numerous unnecessary penalties being served by the Mitchell boys. The lead could have been lost easily had not been for the skill of our goalie Ryan Bell who kept the Goderich team from scoring any additional goals.

Mitchell takes the "W". A special shout out to the Mitchell Midget Rep Team who came out to support the local league team!
