Scotia Bank Mitchell Meteors Bantam LL Dairy Queen Tournament Champs
The Meteors opened the tournament Friday afternoon, with a 5-0 win over the host South Huron Sabres.  Mitchell dominated from the start only allowing four shots on goal the entire game.  

Mitchell opened the scoring just over half way through the first on a goal from PJ Marshall from Evan McArthur and Joey Adam.    The Meteors would make it 2-0 in the second when Adam scored his own goal from McArthur.  The Meteors would blow it open in the third with 2 goals from Jaden Faulkner the both assisted by Austin Weir and Kurtis De Jong, and one from Josh Duncan from Marshall and Adam.

Wade Monden earned the shut out.

Mitchell’s second game was against the Woolich Wildcats Friday night.  The Meteor’s again dominated from start to finish with a 9-2 win. 

Mitchell opened the scoring less than a minute in on a goal from Joey Adam assisted by Evan McArthur.  The game would stay that way through the first until the dam broke in the second when Mitchell scored 4 goals.   Josh Duncan scored 2, PJ Marshall, Basil Voros and McArthur would each add 1, with Joey Adam getting 3 assists, Kurtis De Jong, Coulter Rolph, Dominic Voros, Denzel Finlayson, Braeden McLean and Marshall getting assists.  Woolich also scored 2 goals in the second to end the period.  Mitchell would add 3 more in the third from De Jong, MacArthur and Duncan for his hat trick.

Austin Weir earned the win for the Meteors.

The Meteor’s final game of the preliminary round was Saturday night against the La Salle Sabres.  La Salle was playing for their tournament life, while the Meteors were all but assured of a spot in the semis.  Mitchell came out playing like the game didn’t matter and were on their heels for the first two periods. 

La Salle opened the scoring half way through the first.  Mitchell responded less than two minutes later with Evan MacArthur scoring from PJ Marshall and Dominic Voros.  La Salle scored the only goal of the second to lead 2-1 going into the third.  The Meteors finally got their legs going, with Josh Duncan scoring at the 4 minute mark to tie and the 3 minute mark to give Mitchell the lead.  Coulter Rolph scored an empty netter with just over a minute left in the third.

Wade Monden earned the win in net.

 The Scotia Bank Mitchell Meteors Bantam LL played their semi final game against the Lambton Shores Predators.  The Preds had not allowed a goal in the 3 preliminary games, but could not handle the Mitchell offence.

Mitchell opened the score with four minutes left in the first on a goal by Wade Monden, from Josh Duncan and PJ Marshall.  The Meteors would another with just 17 seconds left in the period on a goal from Duncan assisted by Coulter Rolph and Marshall.  Joey Adam scored the only goal of the second period from Evan McArthur and Marshall.  Mitchell closed out the scoring with an empty netter late in the third by Duncan from MacArthur and Rolph.

Austin Weir earned the shut out in net.

Mitchell defeated the Dorchester Dragons 4-1 in the final Sunday afternoon in a terrific back and forth match.

After a scoreless first period, the Meteors opened the scoring 30 seconds into the second period on a goal by Kuris De Jong assisted by Evan MacArthur.  Mitchell extended the lead to two with just 21 seconds left in the period when PJ Marshall knocked home a goal from MacArthur and Josh Duncan.   Duncan made the score 3-0, four minutes into the third period, before Dorchester managed to narrow the lead a few minutes later.  Dorchester played with desperation but it was Mitchell who was able to score a final goal to make the final score 4-0, with assists from MacArthur from De Jong.
