Weekend Split at Home For JP Uniac Atom Girls
The JP Uniac Insurace Atom HL Girls played two close games this weekend, coming away with a loss and a win.

On Saturday Jan.6, 2018 the girls hosted St Thomas C Panthers in an evenly matched league game.  The visiting Panthers would strike first as they went ahead 1-0 with a goal 7 minutes in.  The teams would exchange scoring chances, until Alissa Insley would tie up the game on a strong individual effort late in the second.  This would set the table for an exciting third period of hockey.  Both teams played hard and had multiple scoring chances, however it was the visitors who caught a lucky bounce and as a result snuck a bouncing puck past Meteors goalie Ally Vogels with only 1:03 left in the third.  Despite a last minute surge with the extra attacker, the Meteors couldn't find the equalizer and the game ended in a 2-1 win for the Panthers.

Only a day later the girls found a new opponent in the Lambton Attack C team, again hosting in Monkton.  This also would prove to be a close checking affair with strong defense and goaltending leading the way.  The Meteors would get the lone goal of the game as Haileigh Templeman scored at the midway point of the first period after a strong forecheck with linemates Rachel Haefling and Andrea Kelly.  Despite plenty of chances at both ends, this game quickly became a goaltending dual, with Meteor Ally Vogels proving to be unbeatable securing her 5th shutout of the year in the 1-0 Mitchell win.  The defensive trio of Hayden Uniac, Addy Wolfe and Rylee Kipfer contributed from the blueline, keeping the speedy Attack forwards in check throughout the game.
