The Atom HL girls played three strong games and continue to improve as a team.

The girls opened the tournament with a strong win over Kent County Fillies.  Tegan Mace opened the scoring midway through the first with assists going to Alissa Insley and Addy Wolfe.  The teams would battle back and forth in the second with Kent County adding the equalizing goal late in the period.  The Meteor girls would take over the game in the third with 3 unanswered goals.  Insley lead the offense with a pair of goals and Rachel Haefling added a single.  Brooklyn French and Andrea Kelly added single assists in the 4 to 1 win.
Game 2 Friday afternoon had the Meteors matched up against TCDMHA.  Mitchell controlled the game from start to finish in a 5-0 win.  Scoring opened midway through the first when Haileigh Templeman scored from the slot.  The Metoers continued to pressure and as a result added a pair of goals by Kelly, and singles from French and Hayden Uniac.  Insley, Mace and Haefling all contributed with a pair of assists while Templeman added a single helper.  Ally Vogels earned the shutout in the victory, her 4th of the year. The win would secure the girls a bye to the semis Saturday afternoon.
In the semis the girls would once again face off against TCDMHA.  Hardwork, a strong forecheck and great teamwork led the girls to a dominant performance.  The Meteors controlled the game from start to finish but could not solve a hot visiting goalie.  Outshooting their oppenents 26 to 2 throughout the game, the girls could not catch a break and were unable equalize a TCDMHA goal to tie up the game.
The girls took the defeat with great sportsmanship and should be congratulated for their efforts throughout the tournament.  Regular season continues next week for the team as they travel to St Thomas for a Saturday afternoon matchup.
