Semi finals we faced a regular season opponent and the team that put us out of playoffs. Lakeshore Lightening. We weren’t able to beat them all season we had a few ties so we were ready to beat them this time!
A scoreless first period had us on the edge of our seats.
We got the first goal half way through the second period with Alexis Gettler shooting for the net, the puck went off Kara Rolph and found the net.
Then they scored.
All tied up end of second.
Than they scored twice in the third to make it 3-1. Three mins left in the third when coach pulled the goalie right after our timeout our girls were controlling the puck right in front of the Lakeshore goalie and suddenly Josephine Jarmuth had the puck in front of her stick given to her by Josie Walker and an open side of the net. Bam it went in. Than Lakeshore called a timeout, with about 1:15 left the girls lined up at centre for face off Kora Smith back in net for a few seconds till we got the puck. It’s was tense, fast and hard play by all the girls on the ice. But we couldn’t tie it up... not for a lack of effort.
The meteors deserved the win. The defence were on their A game today, defending our goalie Kora...who made many fantastic saves today. The girls were passing and working as a team!
Let’s keep up the teamwork this afternoon as we are off to play for bronze.
