Novice Girls Record Two Playoff Wins On Weekend
The Dodge Caravan Kids Meteor Novice 'C' Girls notched two playoff wins on the weekend, defeating Sarnia3-1 in WOGHL league play on Saturday afternoon, followed by a 5-3 OMHA Playdown victory in St Mary's on Sunday.
Sarnia scored the lone goal of the first period on Saturday, and the Meteors would tie the game midway through the second period on a goal by Abigayle Van Bakel, assisted by Maren Marshall. Ava Harmer would score the unassisted game-winning goal late in the third period, and Zoey Michel would add an empty-netter to seal the victory.
On Sunday afternoon, the St Mary's Rock hosted the Meteors in an OMHA Playdown game. Van Bakel scored a hat trick, notching a goal in each period. Additional goals were scored by Alayna McKay and Michel. Harmer chipped in with a pair of assists, and single helpers went to Ellie MacArthur and Michel.
The Meteors will be busy next weekend with three more playoff games, starting with hosting St Mary's in Mitchell on Friday night at 6:50pm.
