Novice Girls Capture Pink On The Rink Championship
The Dodge Caravan Kids Meteor Girls captured the Novice 'C' Championship at The South Huron Pink On The Rink Tournament this past weekend, going undefeated and shutting out Lucan 4-0 in the final.

Looking to avenge an earlier loss to Mitchell in round robin play, the Lucan Irish came out battling hard right off the opening draw.  Mitchell struck first midway through the first period as Ellie MacArthur forced a loose puck out of a crowd down low, and Abigayle Van Bakel jumped on it for the first goal.  A minute late Maren Marshall made it a 2-0 lead on an end-to-end rush, finishing with a top shelf wrist shot.  Additional unassisted goals were added by Ava Harmer and Van Bakel's second of the game to round out the scoring.  Selina Gethke made several key saves when called upon, including stopping a breakaway with a minute remaining to preserve the shutout.
The Meteors opened tournament play on Friday afternoon with a 6-0 win over the Woodstock Wildcats, a familiar opponent from the previous weekend.  Van Bakel led with a hat trick, and singles markers were added by Zoey Michel, MacArthur, and Harmer.  MacArthur, Harmer, and Camryn Medhurst chipped in with assists.  Gethke would again earn the shutout in net.
Saturday morning's opponent was the first meeting with Lucan, and the Meteors matched the previous day's score with another 6-0 victory.  Van Bakel and Harmer paced the attack with a hat trick each, and assists were recorded by Kayla Visneskie, Alayna McKay, and Van Bakel.  The shutout in net was posted by MacArthur, and it was on to the semi-finals on Sunday morning against TCDMHA (Chatsworth).
The offensive juggernaut continued to roll as Van Bakel (2G, 1A) and Medhurst (1G, 2A) each led with three points on route to a 7-1 win.  Harmer scored two goals, and additional singles went to McKay and Marshall.  Other helpers were recorded by MacArthur, Avery Smith, Macie Russwurm, and Emma Groenestege.
