Oh Santa, Please Bring Us Some Goals!
December had a great start for the B&S Construction Mitchell Meteors Bantam Girls, then fizzled to a thud.

You’ve heard of WaterGate: Richard Nixon’s political scandal.

You’ve heard of DeflateGate: Tom Brady deliberately under inflating footballs.

Well, we have witnessed the birth of “KirbyGate”: an unexplainable mess of timekeeping excellence! It was pretty near the highlight of the month. Until Todd’s mysterious first period buzzer 70 seconds into the game against St. Thomas. Thank goodness our team wasn’t on a break away at the time. In the same way that a spouse (usually male) will do a terrible job of doing some housekeeping chore around the house in order not to get asked to do it again, Kirby and Todd have been permanently banned from timekeeping.

Now, back to hockey...

Our first game of the month was awesome, beating our arch rivals, South Huron, 3-0. Our favourite player from the other team was tossed from the game, much to the chagrin of the Mitchell fans. Why sit in the penalty box, when you can sit in the dressing room? It’s much cozier in there!
Goal scorers were Ryley Jacobs, Madison McNichol and Sami Cameron.
It was the first regular season shutout for “Brick”, with strong support from our five defencemen (defencewomen?).

After beating St. Thomas soundly twice in the Kitchener tournament, the Girls decided to spread some Holiday cheer and give a little gift to the Panthers, dropping a stinker 2-1. Maybe we should blame the timekeeper, whose sense of humour is the only thing worse than his timekeeping.
The lone goal was scored by Tayler McCann.

Now for the low point. A 6-0 drubbing by Kent County. A very good team, but not unbeatable. We’ll get them next time.
Goal scorers: NOBODY!

Thanks to the Jacobs for hosting this year’s team Holiday party!
If you noticed, the Steel’s and the Rae’s were absent. Hmmmm...related to the timekeeping fiascos? Possibly...
