November Recap
The Tru Country Peewee Girls have played some great hockey and had many close battles in their games during the month of November.  The team played in the Stratford Festival Cup tournament and also have had a few league games to start off this month.

Our highlight for the month of November was our solid play in the Stratford Festival Cup Tournament round robin play.  On the opening day of the tournament (Friday Nov 18th) the girls played two teams that we have never faced before and won both those games, 2-1 over Mount Bridges and 3-0 over Brampton.  Jaimie Badley was on fire this day as she scored 2 goals in our shutout game vs Brampton.  Arianna Catalan, Nicole Simmons and Alexa Hahn would net our other goals.  Great start to the tournament!  The next day (Saturday Nov 19th) we would play our rival St Marys and the Bluewater Hawks for the first time this season.  Both of these games were a goalie's duel as neither one was willing to let much in the net and therefore we would tie each game 1-1.  Makayla Beuerman made some great saves to keep us in the games.  Erica Pletsch and Brooklyn Gethke would each earn their names to the scoresheet.  With our 2 win, 2 tie record we earned the right to play in one of the semi finals on Sunday Nov 20th against St Marys, but this just wasn't our game as we just couldn't seem to muster any luck around us and we would lose 4-0.  Tough one girls!
With this tournament behind us we continue to move on with league play.  On Sunday November 27th in Monkton we took on the Waterloo Ravens.  This was a great game to watch as the play was back and fourth for the entire game.  Each team took multiple shots but again our goalie Makayla Beuerman and theirs continued to shut down the offense and keep the scoreboard at 0 for almost the whole game.  With nothing changing on the scoreboard except the period numbers and the clock during the first couple of periods, it took Waterloo in the finally 23 seconds of the third period to get that puck pass our goalie to score. Shoot!  Come on girls, you still have a few bit of time left!  With a battle in front of their net and the sound of the buzzer we just fell short of time to tie up the game.  Oh well, we know the rematch will be interesting and hopefully we can take the win!
This past weekend we played host to the Grand River Mustangs in Monkton.  Wow, all I can say is what a odd called game by the refs.  We started this game with a spark and with that Arianna Catalan would score just a couple of minutes into the game with Ava Gibbings and Emma French earning the assists.  Good work gals, keep going!  The period would end with us up 1-0.  The second period we just fell apart and couldn't seem to get our play back, the Mustangs would score 4 goals to take the lead 4-1 going into the final period.  With our backs against the wall, the girls continued to battle hard but would only be rewarded for 2 more goals.  Nicole Simmons and Emma French netted our goals.  During this period we had great shots and also had a couple of goals called off even through we watched them go into the net.  The buzzer would sound with us down by one and losing the game 4-3.  Tough one girls but you can't do much when the refs call a game like that.
Now this weekend we have another league game vs Woolwich on our Mitchell turf, so come on out and cheer on our gals.
