Hoegy's Farm Supply Pee Wees win Silverstick
Dawson Dietz scored his second goal of the game midway through the first overtime period to give the Mitchell Hoegy's Farm Supply Pee Wees a dramatic 6-5 come from behind win over the South Huron Sabres to capture the Pee Wee B division at the Kincardine Regional Silverstick Tournament.

After coming out flat the first two periods, the boys fought back after trailing 5-3 heading into the third period to tie the game in regulation before Dietz's game winning goal in overtime.

For two periods, South Huron attacked the offensive zone well and kept Mitchell from having any momentum.  South Huron opened the scoring early in the first only to have Drew Scherbarth tie the score just a minute later.  South Huron took a 3-1 lead into the second when Scherbarth scored his second of the game to move the locals to within 1 goal.  Midway through the second frame South Huron scored to restore a two goal margin on a Mitchell turnover. Connor Lockhart scored for the locals, however, South Huron regained a two goal lead late in the second period.

In the third, the boys came out flying and pressured South Huron, out shooting them 15 to 5 in the final frame.  Dietz scored his first goal of the game to make it a one goal game and Conner MacLean scored with five minutes remaining to tie the score. The Pee Wees kept the pressure on and had numerous scoring chances to the score the winner in regulation as the South Huron goalie made some great late game saves.

The Pee Wees continued the pressure in overtime before Dietz scored the winner. Austin Weir earned the win in relief of Kody Eisler. Drew Scherbarth was named the MVP of the final game.

In the opening game against league rival Listowel, the Pee Wees could not get anything going as Listowel played a strong checking game and came away with a 3-0 win. Kody Eisler suffered the loss in the net.

In game 2, the boys had ample scoring opportunities but could only score three times enroute to a 3-1 victory over Hanover.  MacLean scored midway through the first, Seth Huygen scored early in the third and Dietz scored with five minutes remaining to seal the victory. Connor Lockhart, MacLean and Huygen collected assists. Weir earned the win the Mitchell net.

The quarterfinal game was a rematch of game 2 against Hanover with the locals prevailing with another 3-1 victory. Huygen, Brayden Vosper and Lockhart were the scorers. Weir, again earned the win in goal.

In the semi-final match against a tough Kincardine team, the boys were down 2-0, five minutes into the game but battled back to win 3-2. After being down two goals early, the boys started to out work Kincardine and finally scored when Huygen scored his first of two goals with just over a minute to play in the second. With Mitchell on the powerplay, Huygen scored again with one second remaining in the period to tie the score at 2. Dietz then scored the game winner at the ten minute mark of the third period. The locals fought off a late charge from Kincardine in the final minutes to advance to the final game. Eisler earned the victory in net in relief of Weir.

With the victory, the Pee Wees advance to the International Silverstick this weekend in Forest. They will play Friday morning at 8:00 am in Forest, 1:05 pm in Thedford and 8:00 am Saturday in Forest.
