Pink on the Rink Championship!
The Mitchell Meteors Atom Girls HL team took South Huron's annual Pink on the Rink tournament by storm this past weekend - winning all of their games en route to the championship title.
In their first game they faced off against Lucan. Sadie Josling, Brooklyn French, and Brooklyn Boville all scored to push the Meteors to a 3-1 victory.
They were next confronted by the hungry host Sabres, but with a strong joint effort they propelled themselves to a 6-2 win. Brooklyn French, Brooklyn Boville and Sadie Josling all jammed in their second goals of the tournament, while Josie Walker, Charles Gethke and Jade Huygen rounded out the goal scoring effort. Huygen and Boville both registered a pair of assists, with French, Aubrey Vosper, Rachel Haefling and Hayden Uniac adding singles.
With that victory, they received a bye to the tournament finals, meeting up with their arch-rivals from South Huron. The Meteors took to the ice with determination and clinched the tournament title with a 5-0 trouncing of the opposition.
Boville led the charge with 2 goals and an assist; Walker and Huygen each added a goal and two assists, with Sadie Josling knocking the other goal. Peyton Vanderkuylen, Haefling, French, Uniac and Gethke each added a solo assist.
Bolstered by great saves and strong defense in front of her, Allyson Vogels posted a drop dead gorgeous 1.00 GAA during the tournament; polishing off a great weekend with a shutout in the finals.
