Silver for the Atom C Girls
It was an intense series!
The Van Gerwen Sun Life Atom C girls played well matched games against the Tillsonburg Lightening in their recent series, with the final game being this past Monday night in Mitchell. Mitchell lost 1-0 after 3 periods. A game highlight included Alexis Insley having a high hard shot which saw Tillsonburg's goalie make a fantastic save. Our defensemen were quick to jump into the rush to create scoring chances and help our forwards however we could not net that elusive goal. This left both teams with 3 points a piece in the series and resulted in a 10 min overtime period. After 10 mins of intense action, several rushes and great saves by our goalie, Shawni Dejong, the teams were still even at 0-0. A 3 man shoot out followed which resulted in Tillsonburg winning 1-0. This was a well played series by all. Congratulations girls on the silver metal and good luck at Provincials!
