Meteors Silence Thunder
A game full of crisp passes, relentless forechecking, positional defence, and timely saves resulted in the Thompsons Atom AE Meteors second consecutive 4-1 win of the day. The victory over the Caledonia Thunder and their previous two games seeded Mitchell 2nd out of 10 teams in the Aylmer tournament after the preliminary round. The Meteors will now get a bye through the quarter-finals and will await a semi-final opponent Sunday afternoon at 1:30pm.

The local side came out of the gate quickly against the Thunder as Ryan Hubbard would feed Jack Miller on a breakaway and Miller would slide one low glove past the Caledonia netminder just 23 seconds into the game. Ethan Meinen would complete the first period scoring as he would jam one in the corner of the net unassisted.

The middle stanza would see two more goals from the Meteors. The third goal of the game would come off the stick of Hubbard as he would lift one high over the fallen opposing goalie with assists going to Miller and Charlie Geiger. Mitchell would round out their scoring late in the second as Brayden Glauser would get the puck just over the Thunder blue line, cut to the middle of the ice and fire a laser over the goalie's glove before he could move.

The Meteors would only surrender one goal in the third thanks to the fine work of Joel Meinen, Blake Redfern, Colby Ryan, and Noah Mann on defence and strong goaltending by game MVP, Keagen Meinen. The forechecking of Jaxen Hartwig and Carter O'Brien helped to create many offensive opportunities for the Meteors.
