Novice Girls End Regular Season in Style
Over the past weekend the Perth County Chrysler Dodge Caravan Kids Novice girls finished off their regular season with two home games, and finish it off they did.  Saturday afternoon the St. Thomas Panthers came prowling to Mitchell and on Sunday the Lambeth Lancers came riding into Monkton.  Both teams would go home disappointed, as the Meteors were sizzling hot winning both games.

On Saturday in Mitchell, Zoey Michel would be the offensive star as she netted her first career Novice girls hockey hat trick.  Her quest for the hat trick started at 1:27 of the first period and ended at 2:22 of the third.  Danielle Harmer was the other goal scorer as she went home with two.  Assists in the game went Kara Rolph with two, and singles to Ashley McLeod, Jessie Horan and Ava Harmer.  Grace Kipfer's shut out bid was broken early in the third as the Meteors played short handed as Rylee Kipfer was called for the "phantom" hooking call.  We should probably thank her father's Karma for that one, as he is known to go home after reffing minor atom games with a tired right arm, with some penalties that still haven't been seen.  The girls worked the box on the penalty kill, however the Panthers were able to break it down in the dying seconds of the kill.  When the dust all settled the Meteors skated to a 5-2 win.

On Sunday, the place was Monkton and the opponent was the Lambeth Lancers.  Ashley McLeod would be a one woman wrecking crew on this day as she netted the double hat trick, scoring six goals.  The Lancers had no answer for her grit and determination around the net.  Danielle Harmer would chip in with a single goal, and refs earned their money as several assists were awarded.  Ava Harmer had 5 assists, Heather Ogilvie had 3, Michel 3, and singles to Kara Rolph, Jayda Houben and Camryn Medhurst.  It must be noted that Jessie Horan was an unhealthy scratch as she was ill, in her absence Rolph played defence on the depleted blue line and did an excellent job.  Grace Kipfer earned the shut out making several key saves, and again thanked her cousin Rylee for her rock solid defence.  The Meteors ended the season with a 7-0 commanding victory.

The parents would like to thank the coaching staff for all their hard work throughout the regular season.  The girls now compete in Silver Stick this upcoming weekend in Port Elgin.  Someone please place a wake up call to the Kipfer's room!  Good luck girls and have fun parents!
