Successful Three Game Road Trip
This past weekend the Perth County Chrysler Dodge Caravan Kids Novice girls hit the road for three games which began on Saturday in Petrolia and ended in St. Thomas on Monday evening.  The girls played three strong road games and were rewarded by winning all three, compiling 6 points.

Saturday morning the road trip got started as the Meteors headed to Southwestern Ontario's oil country, located in Lambton county.  The girls played as slick as a bottle of Valvoline beating the Lambton attack 4-1.  Ava Harmer got things going for the Meteors as she scored with 1:34 remaining in the first period.  Ashley McLeod picked up the lone assist.  The Attack answered back very quickly tying the game at 1 before the first period ended.  A. Harmer gave the girls the lead again in the second, scoring her second goal of the game.  McLeod and Zoey Michel picked up the assists.  Danielle Harmer kept the scoring in the family as she netted an unassisted goal as time wound down in the second, scoring with just 5.1 seconds remaining.  In the third McLeod scored the Meteors fourth goal, with A. Harmer picking up the assist to complete her career night.

Sunday would have the girls hit the road heading into Komoka to play the Ilderton Jets.  These teams have gotten to know each other as of late, as they have had several close battles with both teams getting the better of the other.  This game the Meteors would be the ones that would fly high.  Grace Kipfer was again her rock solid self and stopped every shot that came her way earning the shut out.  Kara Rolph would lead all scorers for the Meteors scoring twice and assisting twice.  Jayda Houben and McLeod would add single goals.  D. Harmer would earn two assists, while A. Harmer and Camryn Medhurst would each earn singles.  The girls would jet out of Komoka with the 4-0 shut out win.

Monday night had the girls doing their homework on the road to St. Thomas.  After the coaching staff checked that the girls had indeed finished their homework and that it was done correctly, the girls took to the ice to take on the Panthers.  The Meteors took a little bit to get their legs under them, and again the tight defensive play of Jessie Horan, Heather Ogilvie, Alissa Insley and Rylee Kipfer tamed any Panther attack.  The Meteors had several chances in the second period however a well devised game plan by the Panthers coaching staff held the visitors off the board.  It was not until halfway through the third that D. Harmer picked up a loose puck outside the Panther blue line and broke in all alone.  With her silky smooth hands she slid one five hole on the Panther goalie, and the Meteors would take the 1-0 lead.  Minutes later Rolph would find herself on her own breakaway.  After making a beautiful forehand/backhand move, she thought she had the goalie beat, but a lightning fast left pad save would deny Rolph, and the lead would remain at 1.  The team would tighten up after they had the lead and Grace Kipfer would make several stops and earn her second shut out of the weekend.  The Meteors would rap up the weekend going 3 for 3 and earning 6 valuable points as the season winds down.

The girls are back at home this weekend as they finish off the regular season with two more games.
