Walkom's Valu-mart Tyke 1 back at it
Feeling refreshed off a two week break the Walkom’s Valumart Tyke 1 Meteor’s headed to Seaforth on Saturday morning looking for a victory.

The home team came out with a fast pace trying to send a message to the visiting Meteor’s with scoring chances coming quick and early. After several opportunities early in the 1st period they finally put one past the Meteor’s veteran goal-tender Tyler Burtenshaw. The Meteor’s quickly regrouped though, moving the action to the offensive zone with Blake Otten and Cole Templeman teaming up to tie the game with a goal and assist respectively. The 2nd period continued the back and forth melee and mid-way through Seaforth had a great chance on a breakaway to go ahead, but with Burtenshaw summoning his inner ‘Hasek’ he shut-the-door making a brilliant save. This gave the Meteor’s a big lift in momentum and Owen Jarmuth capitalized on it by stealing the puck in the neutral zone and scored an unassisted clapper to put Mitchell ahead 2 to 1. But the highlights didn’t end there folks, with the Meteor’s still applying pressure, Otten took a pass from line mate Ben Hubbard, skated around two defenders for a beauty wrap-around! A goal to definitely make the Sports Center highlights that night.  Seaforth wasn’t going away that easily though, early in the 3rd they made it a 3 to 2 game with plenty of time to go. Strong defensive support from Carter Harris, Reegan Vessie and Connor Wolfe minimized the scoring chances from Seaforth and helped the Meteor’s with two more goals from Jarmuth and assists coming from Michael Coyne and Bryson Eickmeyer.  The final tally was 5 to 3 for the Meteor’s, a hearty victory and great team win. In a post-game press conference Coyne was asked how the Meteor’s were able get to another level and pull out the victory when put to such a test…”did you see the game? Did you see Otten’s goal?!? What more is there to say!”

Good luck next week in Zurich!
