Timing Is Everything...
Walkom's Valu-Mart Tyke 1 Meteors skated to a 5 - 5 draw on Saturday afternoon against a strong Ilderton Jet's team.
The Meteor's completed their home at home series with the Jet's in a high flying, high scoring battle. A little short-staffed due to multiple players on the IR list, the Meteors called up two players from the other Tyke team, Sean Gibbings and Nolan Rolph got the call and both played hard on both ends of the ice, thanks for the help boys!
Bryson Eickmeyer opened the scoring for both teams 2mins into the first period with an unassisted breakaway. Owen Jarmuth had an Austin Matthews like performance answering every Ilderton goal and in the end netted an astounding 4 goals! Helping Jarmuth with assists were Eickmeyer, Michael Coyne, Cole Templeman and Connor Wolfe.
In goal Carter Harris displayed an array of skills even using his face mask to keep the puck out, in all Harris finished the night with a 0.924 SV%. Time and time again he shut the door on the Jet's attack to keep the Meteor's in the game.
Post game interviews were kept short do to inclement weather, but forward Blake Otten was quoted "I thought we put in a good team effort, we had lots of chances you know. Before the game coach told us to put the puck on the net and see what happens, I thought we did a good job of that. It's all you can do against a team like the Jet's".
