Mitchell Scotiabank Bantam AE's win first two games in OMHA series against Douro
Mitchell Scotiabank Bantam AE's traveled to Douro for the OMHA Semi-Finals on February 20th and 21st winning both games.
Game one Douro was first on the board scoring early in the period with the Douro player rubbing the ice to celebrate the goal. Late in the first period Jake Monden assisted by David Rowland puts Mitchell on the board ending the period with a 1-1 tie.
Second period Mitchell controlled the puck keeping it in the offensive end. Devin Fenwick assisted by Damon Kay and Tristan Beehler followed by an unassisted goal by Curt Eidt brings Mitchell ahead 3-1.
James Vink would only let Douro sneak one past him midway through the third period. Douro just could not keep up with the boys. Game ends 3-2 Mitchell.
Game two Mitchell had control of the puck for most of the match. Forwards winning the face offs, great passing, hustling down the ice and working to keep it in the Douro end for most of the game. Ryan Bell, playing solid in net, did not get too much of a work out as the puck was quickly sent back up the ice by our defense.
Jake Monden gets the hat trick and an assist, Tristan Beehler sends in two goals and an assist, Devin Fenwick and Jared McCarthy each had a goal and an assist, Kyle Richardson had a goal. Trevor DeJong, Clayton McCarthy, Damon Kay amd Curtis Eidt picking up the assists.
Mitchell wins 8-1.
Action heads back to home ice on February 27th at 4:45pm with Mitchell leading the series by 4 points.
