Playoffs under Way
The Lockhart Pee Wee local league Mitchell Meteors opened their WOAA playoffs Saturday afternoon against the undefeated Goderich 1 Sailors.

The Meteors despite not playing a game in three weeks came out strong and opened a 1-0 lead on a goal by Braedon McLean from Spencer Boyce and Jason Mills with 5 minutes left in the 1st period.  Goderich fought back but Charlie Wood in net for the Meteors made some excellent saves.  Damen Roobroeck scored 3 minutes into the second to give Mitchell a 2-0 lead.  The assist went to Jaden Faulkner.  Goderich fought back with a goal a little over 3 minutes later.  The game went back and forth with both goalies making some tough saves.  Mitchell was able to regain their 2 goal margin with just 24 seconds left in the second period on a goal by Basil Voros assisted by Mills.  Goderich wasn’t going to quit though and managed to narrow the lead to one with just under 5 minutes remaining in the third, and then a minute later they were able to tie it up, sending the game into overtime.    The Meteors had a couple of good chances early in the overtime period but Goderich was able to bury one 2 minutes into the overtime period to earn the 4-3 win.

The Lockhart Pee Wee local league Mitchell Meteors continued their WOAA round robin playoffs Sunday night in Drayton against the Defenders, with their second straight overtime game.  The game was an exciting back and forth affair.  The Meteors opened the scoring on a goal from Damen Roobroeck from Jaden Faulkner with 3 minutes left in the second period.  The game continued back and forth with Austin Weir called on to make a number of excellent saves.  Drayton finally managed to beat him off a scramble 5 minutes into the third.  Both teams continued to exchange chances through the last 10 minutes but neither team could score the game winner in regulation.  So it was off to overtime the game went.  Three minutes into the 4th period defenseman Jason Mills took a feed from PJ Marshall and broke down the left wing before burying the game winner behind the Drayton goalie for a 2-1 win.
